In this section of our blog we will keep track of who is running for school board positions by school district. We will also share their comments about questions we pose to them.
We are covering ten (10) districts in SWW. In those 10 there are 27 school director positions up for election.
If a candidate has NOT answered the questions please email them and ask them to do so. If you have questions of your own you’ve asked them and they’ve answered please consider sharing those with us so we can add them to the candidate’s profile and responses.
What are the rules?
- To run you must live in the district you would represent
- Election is “at large”. Every voter in the school district gets to vote for one Director per district. So if you have 3 positions open you can vote for one person in each district.
- If there are two or fewer people running they all move on to November. If there are 3 or more they go through a primary with the top 2 going to November
We emailed the candidates a list of questions on May 22nd and again in mid June and offered to share their responses under their name in the district and position they are running for. There are a number of candidates who have, so far, chosen NOT to share their thoughts. If they don’t want to share their views of important k-12 issues should they get votes?
