Woke Preschoolers: Indoctrinating Our Youngest Children
Intellectual Takeout Veronika Winkels Whether something is education or indoctrination seems to be a matter of where you stand on its content. I have heard C.S. Lewis’ beloved classic The Chronicles of Narnia accused of indoctrinating children with Christianity. My understanding is that indoctrination teaches a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically. Now, I believe my preschool children, aged 3 and 5, are being indoctrinated at their childcare center by a text espousing a set of values vastly different from those Lewis held. It’s title is, We Are All Equal. I was mildly disconcerted when I noticed it in the reading corner. I sniffed a political message. So when I saw … [Read more...]

Should school boards and school districts be engines of social change?
For the past 20+ years school districts have been evolving. They've moved from teaching the 3 R's to providing daycare, healthcare, meals, clothing and other services. They have adopted S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning) as well as PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Services). They have adopted stances supporting Black Lives Matter (BLM); in some cases taking positions against police and school resource officers. Some have adopted "White Fragility" and are actively teaching "systemic racism". Districts have added more counselors to help children deal with issues at home. What do the statistics and data about public schools tell use? … [Read more...]

NPR Explains How You Can Turn Your 2-Year-Old into a Social Justice Warrior
Children seem to be "used" to promote various programs and agenda's by adults. In the following article (which we got from Intellectual Takeout) there are multiple examples of how children are being "used". Should children be used as tools to promote an adults view of social justice? Should schools be an asset to be used for social justice? Should children be molded and shaped to promote social justice? By indoctrinating children and directing what they read educators, teachers and activists can literally shape the direction of a society. Social activist Innosanto Nagara wanted to find a fun book to read to his 2-year-old son that also talked about the importance of social … [Read more...]
