Comprehensive Sexual Health Education – OSPI’s Pitch

The Office of the Superintendent of Public Schools (OSPI) is held by Chris Reykdal. One of his goals is to institute a Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) program starting in kindergarten through high school. What does do they mean by CSE? What does it include? What are the specific examples of curriculum? Good questions all…but unanswerable because…they haven’t figured out all the details yet. OSPI has recommended certain support materials for local districts to use including: 3R’s and FLASH. They say the materials will be “age appropriate” but can’t give examples yet. They have asked the legislature to “mandate” the CSE so that every district MUST follow their guidelines and only use OSPI approved materials. Local school districts will essentially lose their ability to choose content. This is being done to assure “equity”. They want “gender and self-identity” to be taught.

Do you know that 13 year olds can get medical care at some school clinics including abortion and birth control and STD treatment without the parents ever knowing?

The WA Senate education committee passed SB 5395 (CSE) to the floor for a vote. The House is considering HB 2184 (CSE). Both bills failed in 2019 because thousands of parents physically turned out and emailed and called their elected reps raised so much noise. This session the Democrats are right back it. In the testimony before the House education committee the 16 member “working group” said “equity” and “bullying” were key drivers for the need for CSE. You may want to listen to the fully testimony: https://www.tvw.org/watch/?eventID=2020011115&fbclid=IwAR3RnBpDLZUKjcWIiwaxYEYU2-YWJRrP1ms2N-uL2HfuEiOmjCF4dwGGvdY

One of the most concerning aspects is the choice by the committee members NOT to use data…hard data..from an OSPI sponsored survey in September 2019 that had 10,000 responses. The major finding in that report was that 58.4% of those responding said CSE should NOT…repeat NOT…be required. Here’s the link to the report:  https://www.k12.wa.us/sites/default/files/public/event/2019/09/FINAL%20Survey%20Gizmo%20Report.pdf

In another survey done in the Battle Ground school district in November 2018 received over 2,000 responses. The key finding? 94% of the respondents said they would refuse to allow their children to participate in “self-identity” (gender) education. That information was not considered by either the House or Senate or “working group”.

CSE doesn’t really mean sex education. Instead, it’s a high jacking of sex ed to instead teach and promote and “normalize” fringe behaviors. Gender, Self-Identity, Bullying, LGBTQ. CSE is quite simply a vehicle to promote and “educate” on life styles and behaviors that are tiny percents of the population but that people supporting those views want to become “main stream” and accepted. They don’t just want to be left alone…they want their views accepted and promoted.

Why do surveys and ask parents and the public what they think and want if there is no intention to listen to them? It’s kind of like voting but those in charge throwing out the votes because they think you don’t understand or have the “wrong views” or are stupid.

In 2007 the WA Legislature “mandated” the teaching of HIV and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). In 2017 the Center for Disease Control (CDC) published a national study compiling the data on HIV/STDs for every state. Remember that this is data reported for 10 years of mandated education. What do we see for Washington State? https://gis.cdc.gov/GRASP/NCHHSTPAtlas/charts.html?c=14357   Note: You can choose age ranges, disease and other details…don’t take our word.

As you can see the incidence of Gonorrhea has gone from from 150/100,000 to 286/100,000. A little simple math shows that since the State mandated teaching about HIV/STDs the rate has gone up 136/100,000 = a 90.67% increase. Nearly 2x higher with education. That is fact. Has the State evaluated their educational materials? No evidence they have.

If they have a failing program shouldn’t they fix it before expanding it?

Why would they add more controversial topics onto a program that is failing…badly!

One of the most recommended programs is “FLASH”. If you could review the entire set of 5 binders what might you find?

Mind you those are the vocabulary words for grades 4-5-6. Many would NOT find those “age appropriate”.

Want some more examples of what’s in the FLASH materials? Click this link to open a PDF file (it’s 8mb in size) and see the EXACT materials from the FLASH curriculum already “approved”:  FLASH Examples PDF 1-20

What about “Bullying” of students with “self-identify” issues? We provided the Battle Ground School Board with a document that shows the hard data from studies. The actual number of students who actually are bullied over gender issues is so incredibly small as to be statistically insignificant. We don’t support bullying of any type but it will never be eliminated and usurping CSE as a reason to teach “bullying” makes no sense. Here’s the report: Gender_lgbtq_bullying_sex_ed_curriculum_Oct_24_2019

Summary

  1.  CSE has little to do with sex education
  2.  CSE is the vehicle to introduce and teach gender, lgbtq, transgender and a host of niche adult issues that are being overlayed on children
  3.  CSE is an attempt at social engineering

The only way we can stop this is to rise up and be heard. Check Facebook for groups; check with your local churches; do online searches. Educate yourself. Don’t take know for an answer. And, contact your House and Senate reps and tell them what you think…today
