Sherrie Jones
Elected Experience: This will be my first elected position; however, I have served
in a volunteer capacity on multiple nonprofit and public sector boards and
committees.
Other Professional Experience: I am currently the Executive Director for
the Southwest Washington Contractors Association, and Immediate-Past Chair
of the Development Engineering Advisory Board for Clark County. Previously, I was the Executive Director for Leadership Clark County.
Education: Attended South Puget Sound Community College Community Service Current Member of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Regional Advisory Board, Cascadia Technical Academy Construction Advisory Board, Hockinson High School CTE Advisory Board, and Evergreen Public Schools High School General Advisory.
Statement: Hockinson is a supportive, community focused district where families of all kinds can thrive. As your representative on the Hockinson School Board, my focus will be funding solutions for our growth, safety for students and staff, and ensuring we prepare students for careers after high school; whether college bound or other. It’s essential that our students can see what possibilities exist after high school.
Our schools need improvements to support the growth of the district, however costs to do so continue to increase. I’ll work with both community members and our state to find the best funding options for our schools. There are solutions available, we just need to go after them.
Safety is a continued concern and encompasses far more than increased security and lockdown measures, it’s anti-bullying and harassment education, and supporting those students who are safest when at school. Safety also includes holding our transportation provider accountable for our children from pick-up to drop-off. In addition to my student and staff priorities, I will push for additional community engagement and transparency. Members of the community have the right to know what is happening in our schools; our students are the future of our community.
