District officials attempt to find replace for Mark Mansell, who is set to retire at end of school year.

The La Center School District Board of Directors recently announced their choice of candidates for their upcoming superintendent vacancy. Current superintendent Dr. Mark Mansell will be retiring at the end of this school year after 11 years in the district.

Board Chair Cris Yaw shared that while they are very sorry to see Mansell go, the members of the Board feel good about the strengths of the candidates they have chosen.

“We look forward to the process and feel certain the right person for the district is in the group,’’ read a news release.

The Board of Directors will host all four candidates in the district on Thu., March 10. Candidates will meet with various stakeholder groups throughout the day/evening (students, staff, administrators and community) and then return on Fri., March 11 for individual interviews with the Board.

The four candidates are Chris Fritch, assistant superintendent, Longview SD; David Holmes, superintendent, Three Rivers School District; Slade McSheehy, assistant superintendent, Hockinson SD; and Ellen Perconti, superintendent, Mary M. Knight SD.
