School Board Elections – Vote for NoTA?

The ballots are in the mail and you should have received yours. Now it's time to vote for your local school board directors. We've sent email's to all candidates at least 5 times. Most never responded. Why? Are they not interested in telling you what they think? Are they too busy to take the time? Are they afraid that if you know their views they will not get your vote? Do they not know about the topics we asked about? (In case you want to see what we've asked them check this link: https://swweducation.org?page_id=3851  Some candidates are running unopposed and may not feel they need to answer Where there is competition a few people responded but others chose not to. Dale Farran is one of the co-authors of the 2015 Vanderbilt University study showing … [Read more...]

3×4=11 ???

From a website called: Eaglerising - ................ I guess this could be called the “new” new math. In Illinois a Common Core math instructor had some interesting things to say to a group of concerned parents and teachers about how we should be teaching math in our public schools. Don’t get mad at Common Core instructor Amanda August, she’s just relaying the information that’s being passed on to her from higher up. If anything, be angry with your representatives who have allowed the Common Core disgrace to permeate our schools for the last 5 years or so. Click the picture to play the video of the teacher: ................ Ms. August was recently caught on camera explaining that … [Read more...]

And the correct answer is?

I realize that there are different ways to teach a subject and math has it's own challenges for many people. However, sometimes the tried and tested ways to teach a subject work best. Explore different ways and use what works for the student but forcing everyone to use a method that is not intuitive doesn't seem to make much sense.   … [Read more...]
