Why vote no on the Washougal levies?

This article was published at Clark County Today Jan 15, 2026. Clark County resident Dick Rylander offers his insight on the Washougal School District levy requests in the upcoming Feb. 10 special election Dick Rylander  for Clark County Today Until a year ago anyone could write the pro/con on a school board levy or bond if no one in the district volunteered to write one of the positions. The Democrats in the Washington State Legislature decided it was better to have nothing written rather than let someone outside the district step up. It’s important to look at both sides of levies. SWW School Board Races

By now, if you are following the election of School Board Directors in the ten (10) Southwest Washington School Districts, you know the outcomes. None of the elections (where there were 2 candidates) were close.  If you want to see the details you can click this link: https://results.vote.wa.gov/results/current/clark/   to take you to the Clark County Elections website. We tried to get the candidates to respond to a series of questions on their views, plans and experiences to help you make an informed decision. We were not able to help much. Why? 90% of the candidates chose not to respond to inquiries and questions. We tried every candidate a minimum of five (5) times with different … [Read more...]

Who should you vote for in School Board Primary’s in 2017? NoTA?

In the school board director primary races this year (in August) who should you vote for?   If there is only one (1) candidate running should you vote for them? What if one of the candidates in a multiple candidate race doesn't answer questions or share their positions on important education topics? If there are 1 or 2 candidates they automatically move to the November election. You have a decision to make...do you vote for one of the candidates or, if you don't like any of them or you don't know anything about what their positions are or how they stand on key issues...what do you do? We suggest you write-in a candidate. Introducing the perfect candidate for any … [Read more...]
