Competition, the American Way

This article was written by Jack Miller. The original can be found at: Competition, the American Way | RealClearWire Our K-12 educational system is designed to serve much less than 50% of American students. For decades the cry has been that “all kids must go to college.” Yet, only a minority do so and fewer graduate. Our high schools have been turned into college prep schools. Shop classes have been eliminated, along with other useful courses. Most students who don’t go to college have been deprived of the education they need to be successful. And businesses looking for hungry, well-prepared personnel have been deprived of good candidates. A 2022 report from American Compass … [Read more...]

Randi Weingarten – Single handedly set back K-12 education for a decade?

Who is Randi Weingarten? Rhonda “Randi” Weingarten (born December 18, 1957) is an American labor leader, attorney, and educator. She is president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and a member of the AFL–CIO. She is the former president of the United Federation of Teachers. Why is she important regarding K-12 education? In May 2021, it was revealed that Randi Weingarten, the leader of the nation's second-largest teachers union, significantly influenced Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on reopening schools earlier that year. In the lead-up to the “highly anticipated” Feb. 12, 2021 guidelines, the union president and another top union official were … [Read more...]

U.S. kids are doing progressively worse at math, reading, and more, but it’s not their fault

Common Core is just a set of standards...right? Just because a private group came up with a set of standards that they created, have never been tested, are "licensed" to generate profit and push views of liberals...they are ok because they are just standards...right? In the following article re-published at The New American and written by Alex Newman & Dr. Duke Pesta they talk about:  Insanity In the Classroom: Government Schools Today. Give it a read and then...reach out to your local school district and school board and tell them what you think and demand action. Despite major funding, U.S. kids are doing progressively worse at math, reading, and more, but it’s not their … [Read more...]

Merge the US Dept of Labor + US Dept of Education = ????

This past week the "media" reported discussions about merging the US Dept of Labor and the US Dept of Education. Does that make sense? To understand the implications we first need to understand what each department does and is responsible for. If you want to stop this proposed merger consider this online Whitehouse Petition (active until July 24, 2018): https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-merger-between-us-dept-education-and-us-dept-labor  US Department of Labor: The Department of Labor (DOL) fosters and promotes the welfare of the job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for … [Read more...]
