Do children need parental approval or notice for medical services in Washington State? (Updated 11-5-2023)

The Washington State Legislature, under the control of Democrats for the past 40 years, has chosen, in their infinite wisdom, to allow a number of healthcare procedures that do NOT require parental notice nor permission. This article shares details from State websites. There are districts who have rolled out and/or are in the process of rolling out, dental and medical services on campus. You may want to be aware of this in case you have thoughts you want to share with your legislators and school district leadership. Let's start out with a snapshot of services and notice (or lack of) to parents: The chart on the left: Emergency services - No parental notice … [Read more...]

Social-Emotional Learning: The Dark Side

At the risk of running two articles on Social Emotional Learning back-to-back we are sharing a blog story from Nancy Bailey's Website. Give this a read and consider whether you need to intervene in your local school district. Why would parents and teachers, tired of high-stakes testing in their public schools, wish to sign onto more assessment that tests, tracks, and profiles their child’s behavior online? States are setting up SEL standards about what children should think and feel. How does one standardize such things? Here are the concerns. SEL is ill-defined, unproven and still connected to Common Core. There’s a mish-mash of psycho-social, neuroscience talk, and … [Read more...]

Feds Seek “Mental Health” Testing of All Children, Adults

From an article at The New American   WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Next time you visit your doctor, be careful how you respond to his questions, or you may just be branded “mentally ill” and subjected to “treatment.” That is because a panel advising the Obama administration, in partnership with Big Psychiatry, wants to make doctors subject all American adults and children over age 12 to screening for alleged “mental health” disorders — particularly depression, at least to start with. Then, anyone found to harbor any alleged mental disorder, including children as young as eight, should undergo “therapy,” often including powerful psychotropic medications that experts say have dubious value … [Read more...]
