The debate over banning chocolate milk in school cafeterias
Came across this story at "The Week". (You can read the original at: Should schools ban chocolate milk? | The Week ) What say you? Should the government impose the ban or should parents have a say? Chocolate milk could soon be history in public school cafeterias. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is considering imposing sugar limits that could amount to a ban on flavored milk in elementary and middle schools under proposed new standards for school meals. The rules would cap sugar content for the first time, targeting such sugary lunch-room staples as breakfast cereal, yogurt, desserts, and chocolate and strawberry milk to help improve kids' health and fight childhood obesity, … [Read more...]

Do pronouns have a place in school?
We have heard about the use of pronouns for the last several years. Some people include their pronouns in their email footers. Today we want to explore pronouns and examine whether they have a place in K-12 education. Pronouns are often referred to as "gender" pronouns and appear to be attempt to be gender neutral or add specific examples of how a person wants to be referred to and addressed. This of course requires that the person choosing and using the pronouns understand the meaning of and agree on the interpretation of the designations. It appears that in the past 5-10 years there has been an uptick on use by certain segments of the population. It's fair to say that those supporting … [Read more...]
Conservatives, Take Back the Education Field
This article is a bit long but it's good food for thought. The original article can be found at: https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/09/conservatives-take-back-the-education-field/ written by: Anthony Kinnett and Daniel Buck The conservative movement stood athwart history, yelling Stop — it’s time it did so in education too. If universal school-choice legislation passed tomorrow and parents finally had the freedom to choose schools for their children, with public funds to access them, would utopia follow? We doubt it. Ninety percent of students in the United States currently attend public schools. If choice-based systems were expanded, the same teachers, … [Read more...]

Is it Time We Stopped Viewing Schools as the Best Parent?
So many working families either single parent or both. So little time to keep track of everything...including education. It appears there has been a trend of schools taking over some of the parental responsibilities. Today's article was originally published at Intellectual Takeout and written by Annie Holmquist. The article is 5 years old...but if you didn't know that you would think it's current. The issue hasn't gone away...it's seen by more today. When it comes to school, educators always know best, right? This assumption was challenged by Jay Matthews in The Washington Post over the weekend. After reporting on an incident at a high caliber high school where parents felt educators … [Read more...]
I’m a Former Teacher. Here’s How Your Children Are Getting Indoctrinated by Leftist Ideology.
This article ran ~2 years ago. Read it. Has anything changed? What and how? It was published at Heritage and written by Douglas Blair. Key Takeaways It isn’t just a matter of actively teaching that America and the West are evil. Suppression of “wrongthink” is equally as important to the brainwashing process. The young adults who today gleefully tear down statues of the Founding Fathers were incubated in our very own schools. Conservatives must demand an end to the indoctrination of our youth or face a new American public taught since childhood that the country shouldn’t exist. Your children are being indoctrinated. The education system designed to … [Read more...]
