Education Questions for 2016 Election

We prepared and emailed a list of nine (9) education questions (2016_Candidate_Education_Questions) to people who had registered to run for an elected office in the State of Washington that could vote on or impact education – with a focus on South West Washington. For those running for the US House (District 3) and the US Senate we chose seven (7) questions and asked them to respond: 2016_US_House_Senate_Candidate_Education_Questions_Final

In the end we established a due date of June 30, 2016 (midnight) after which any submissions would not be accepted. Why the cutoff? We want to make sure no candidate could read the responses of others and then craft their answers for advantage. So, to be clear, all candidates who responded by the deadline have their comments next to their name below.

Feel free to download our questions and email them to candidates and ask them for a response. If you choose to do that and get answers back please share them with us. We would love to get them although we won’t publish them. Given the importance of education we NEED to know where the candidates stand.

Why might not someone have responded?

  1. They didn’t care?
  2. They didn’t know how to answer?
  3. They thought their answers would hurt them?

Should you vote for someone if they didn’t respond? That is, of course, up to you. From our perspective failure to respond has meaning.

So, who responded and who didn’t by position? Following is each position we reached out to:
