The Woodland School district has placed Proposition No. 1 “School Support Levy for Educational Programs and Operations” on the February 2025 ballot. For those in Clark County you can find the Pro/Con/Rebuttals at: Woodland School District No. 404 – Proposition No. 1 – School Support Levy for Educational Programs and Operations.pdf (wa.gov)
Today we walk through the details and offer you some information sources that may be useful in evaluating whether to vote yes or no.
This proposition would authorize the District to levy the following excess taxes, replacing a levy that expired in 2023, upon all taxable property within the District, ensuring the continuation of programs such as advanced placement classes, music, art, drama, school safety, technology, nursing, athletic programming, financial literacy, facility maintenance, counseling and support staff.
The last levy failed. They return asking for a new 3-year levy:
As you can see they are asking for $22,225,000. In 2023 (Feb and then again in April) they asked for a 3 year levy in the amount of $18,775,000. This new levy is an INCREASE of $3,425,000 or 18.24% more. They are trying to make up for about 1/2 a year of the lost funding due to the failure.
